Avocado Dye

This is a low waste tip for when you have made a ton of guacamole and you have pits leftover.

What You Need

Avocado pits

Water

White clothing

Pot

Baking Soda (optional)

How To

Fill a pot 2/3 of the way with water and add pits, since this is a non toxic dye experiment you don’t need a dedicated pot for it

Let the avocados simmer in the water for about an hour or until you see the color you want

I read online that adding baking soda makes the pink pop a little bit more so I decided to try that at this point

It was almost immediately pinker!

Turn off the heat and take the pits out of the water

Add your clothes/yarn/fabric to the pot and let it steep overnight

Wring it out in the morning and let it dry out
